vegetables: cold weather vs. warm and the different kinds of leaves we can grow
and eat. In a subsequent month, we
harvested the lettuce leaves and other herbs from the crate. Each resident got to harvest the ones that
they planted. We had a salad party with

1 with assisted living residents-Planted flowers/vegetables in the outdoor
boxes on both floors at Brighton Gardens. (Some residents can only manage a bit
of this activity). Version 2 with Dementia patients-Simplification of the above
to focus on the tactile aspects of planting outside, feeling the soil,
watering, etc. They are excited to plant
the seedlings they started from seeds.

Tussie Mussies. Using a decorative paper
cone made in advance and ribbon trims as the container, the residents created a
bunch of flowers and herbs and greens held in a small water filled baggie tied
tightly and placed in the cone.
