Theme:         Thanksgiving

Container:   We used a plastic take out container from Moby Dick with a 3-prong pin glued into the bottom to hold the oasis.

Plants:          Greens from our gardens.   The container and oasis were  large so we needed a lot of greens.

Since we had no flowers left in our gardens, we bought autumn flowers from the grocery store.

Pic:                Our crafty person, Anna, made cute turkeys from pine cones.   We started with putting the turkey into the oasis front and center and put the plant materials around it.

Game:           “Gobble, gobble”.   It is basically a bingo card that has Thanksgiving-themed photos (pie, pilgrims, etc.)   We put candy (candy corn or M&Ms)  in a small cup for the residents to use to mark their cards.   Whenever a resident gets a “bingo”, instead of saying “bingo”, they say “GOBBLE, GOBBLE”.   ðŸ˜Š     This game has been our tradition for many years and everyone likes it.   We have a few prizes for the residents…. This month we had blank greeting cards, holiday cards, memo pads, small notebooks, calendars, find-a-word puzzles, & a small light-up magnifying glass.  We have all the prizes on a tray and the resident gets to pick which prize they want.  We make sure that at the end of playing “gobble, gobble” every resident has a prize, so no one is left out.

 Location: Asbury

Theme:                   Fall Activities

Container:            Small fall tin container (found at the Dollar Store)  with oasis

Plants:                    Greens and any flowers we had in our gardens

Pics:                         Mini corn ear/husk that was glued onto a bamboo pic

Discussion:         We talked about activities that happen in the Fall (hayrides, corn mazes, etc.) and the residents’ memories of those activities
